Our Management Team
Altus Traffic has built a highly professional, experienced and capable team to ensure sustainability in our position as the market leader. Our team consists of a number of key personnel at our corporate and state level, a short outline on their experience is provided below:
David Lundberg (Managing Director)
David has over 20 years management experience across a range of service industries and qualifications from universities in Australia and the USA. He formed Altus Traffic in 2002 after his experience in the labour hire industry gave him valuable insights and helped identify a niche market opportunity to evolve an unsophisticated market sector. In 2006 he brought the Altus Traffic model to the USA where it continues to grow and lead the market.
At Altus Traffic, David has built a customer-centric business from the ground up, ensuring it is ingrained into the culture of the organisation. David's passion is to lead the industry in improving business practices, integrating technology and ensuring the safety of everyone involved in traffic management.
David’s leadership and initiative are key drivers to Altus Traffic becoming the first national supplier of traffic management services in Australia. Altus Traffic has also been included in the Australian Business Review as one of the top 100 growth companies in 2006 and a SmartCompany Top 50 business in both 2010 and 2011.
Stephen O'Dwyer (Chief Executive Officer)
MBA
Stephen has 18 years senior management experience and has worked in the Traffic Management industry for the past 9 years. Steve has a Masters of Business from the University of Western Australia and was the inaugural winner of the Yellow Pages scholarship to Curtin University to study growth management in business. He is a past President of the Traffic Management Association of Western Australia and Victoria and sat on committee for the Traffic Management Association of Queensland. Steve was also a Board member of the Civil Contractors Association - WA and sat on a parliamentary committee for Traffic Management in NSW.
Peter Backwell (Chief Financial Officer)
B.Ec, ACA, ACIS
Peter has a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University and is a Member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Company Secretaries in Australia. Peter worked for circa 12 years with major Chartered Accountancy firms in Australia and Europe prior to moving to senior roles in Industry. Since moving to Industry in 2003, Peter has been the CFO at Australia’s largest Retail Fitout Group and Financial Controller at a one of Victoria’s largest Residential Construction Groups.
Rowena Ford (National OHS, HR & QA Manager)
Rowena has 17 years in Workplace Safety and 7 years experience most recently in Operational Risk Management, including generalist HR. Rowena has Graduate Diploma in Risk Management from Swinburne University which supplements her Bachelor of Economics from Monash University. She brings to Altus extensive experience in both large corporates and small to medium sized businesses across a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, retail, transport & logistics – road and rail and agribusiness. Rowena assists the business in development of site specific Safety Plans, the implementation and maintenance of benchmarks contained within its AS4801, ISO14001, ISO9001 and compliance with the requirements of AS4292 when working on rail projects.
Damian Seabrook (National Business Development Manager)
Damian has 11 years senior management experience, 4 of those years in the Textile sector as a Senior Manager which completed a total of 12 years in the fashion industry. This was followed by 6 years as a Senior Manager in the Industrial sector before he moved to the Traffic Management Industry where he has spent the last 3 years. Damian is tasked with overseeing national business development opportunities as well as being the central point of contact for the existing national clients to ensure effective communication between client and operations. Tenders and project/contract management also fall under his tasked duties.
Tim Absalom (Senior Planning Engineer)
Grad. Cert. Bus. (Leadership), Dip. Eng. (Civil), Cert IV Civil Structural Drafting, AWTM
Tim has a tertiary qualification in Engineering and has worked in the Traffic Management Industry for more than 10 years. Tim has also spent time as a Senior Highway Designer for a prestigious engineering consultancy firm in Victoria. His exceptional knowledge of design standards, experience in construction methodology, ability to innovate and solve complex traffic management problems make him highly sought after. Tim has been instrumental in developing past and current versions of the Traffic Management for Works on Roads - Code of Practice as well as a new code, Traffic Management for Events - Code of Practice in WA which came into effect in March 2011 to promote safe and consistent traffic management for events on roads in accordance with legal obligations and appropriate standards.
Rick Lewis (Regional Manager – QLD & NSW)
Masters of Business Administration, Bachelor of Social Science & Policy (Psychology), Diploma of Business (Marketing).
Rick has over twenty years experience as a Senior Manager in a wide range of businesses spanning the public and private sectors, and has complimented this comprehensive managerial expertise by studying extensively. Rick joined Altus Traffic in February 2010 as Qld Manager with over six years operational experience in the traffic management industry as well as being Level 3 & 4 Main Roads accredited. Rick’s expertise was also recognised by the Industry, when he was appointed the inaugural President of the Traffic Management Association of Queensland. He has represented the Industry on various Queensland Government committees, such as the Traffic Control Working Party which consisted of representatives from the Department of Transport & Main Roads to provide a superior Traffic Control training and licensing system by the end of 2010 and the Traffic Control Task Force, which was formed to implement the recommendations that emanated from Commissioner Don Brown’s inquiry into the traffic control industry.
Trevor McBay (Regional Manager – VIC & TAS)
Dip Management
Trevor has over 14 years senior operational management experience and has 10 years’ experience working in the Utility sector. Trevor spent 2 years managing a cable recovery project in Australia and 1 ½ years in the USA and was instrumental in setting up a cable recovery contracting company to a number of major telecommunication companies. Trevor joined the Altus Traffic in 2006 and has been in senior management roles providing a unique perspective for both our operational staff and customers alike. Trevor is the Chairman of the Traffic Management Industry Association of Victoria (TMIAV) and a committee member of the Standards Australia Advisory committee for the Australian Standard 1742.3 2009 – (Australian Standard for Traffic Management).
Greg Madeley (Regional Manager – SA & WA)
Greg has 12 years experience in senior management in the Traffic Management industry in South Australia. He has successfully completed Cert VI business management, training and assessment and OH&S management. He has been involved with Altus Traffic for the past 6 years and has grown the SA branch rapidly with a successful supporting management team. His ability to forecast, build, grow and sustain a fast growth company is his strongest asset. In addition to this Greg is also the inaugural Chairman of the newly formed TMS
Altus Traffic Employees
All Altus traffic management employees must have as a minimum a Traffic Control and OH&S certification for their respective location and a current driver license. All staff must undergo our rigorous employee induction as well as the satisfactory completion of our industry knowledge questionnaire. Team Leaders and other selected staff have Senior First Aid and additional OH&S training. Altus also has selected staff who have various site specific training and accreditations from Cert IV Training and Assessment to Rail Safety. Training and certification data can be provided on request.
