Capabilities

Trevor McBay (Regional Manager VIC/TAS)

 

Trevor has over 14 years senior operational management experience and has 10 years’ experience working in the Utility sector.  Trevor spent 2 years managing a cable recovery project in Australia and 1 ½ years in the USA and was instrumental in setting up a cable recovery contracting company to a number of major telecommunication companies.  Trevor joined the Altus Traffic in 2006 and has been in senior management roles providing a unique perspective for both our operational staff and customers alike.  Trevor is the Chairman of the Traffic Management Industry Association of Victoria (TMIAV) and a committee member of the Standards Australia Advisory committee for the Australian Standard 1742.3 2009 – (Australian Standard for Traffic Management).

 

Geoff Galvin (Keysborough Operations Manager)

 

Geoff has come from long career in Sales & Marketing, owning a number of businesses over the last 15 years. Joining Altus Traffic in 2010 as an Account Manager, he has recently taken on the role of Operations Manager at the newly formed Keysborough Branch which services one of Victoria’s largest major projects (Peninsula Link Bypass) with up to 40 Traffic Controller booked per day. 

 

Stuart Wickens (South West Victoria Operations Manager)

 

Stuart has had 17 years’ experience in the traffic management industry and the past 7 years as an Operations Manager. Stuart holds an Advanced Traffic Manager Certification, Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment and a certification for the testing for Alcohol & drugs of abuse. Stuart has successfully managed Asphalt, Construction, Utility and Local Council contracts over the past 7 years in both Western Australia and Victoria. Stuart oversees operations in the South West Region of Victoria with a strong focus on staff training and development.
 

Chris Moore (Geelong Operations Supervisor)

 

Chris has had 11 years management experience in the food and beverage industry with a strong focus on customer service and people management. Chris has been involved in the Traffic management industry for the past 7 years and within the last year has fulfilled the role of Geelong Operations Supervisor. Chris is tasked with the key operational duties of managing staff and deploying crews to the road, fleet management and ensuring effective and efficient delivery of service to clients and project management. Chris is also responsible for the coordination of worksite audits for compliance to State and Australian Standards as well as Altus’ policies and procedures.

 

Malcolm Boulton (Melbourne Senior Operations Supervisor)

 

Malcolm assists with overseeing the Melbourne operation using his 15 years Traffic Management experience. He is responsible for training of crews and auditing of work sites for compliance to State and Australian Standards as well as Altus’ policies and procedures. He ensures thorough and regular site audits are conducted which also include random drug and alcohol breath testing. He is also tasked with the maintenance of all operational equipment and the overseeing of all levels of traffic controllers.   Malcolm has project managed major projects with the likes of Deer Park Bypass and other major Melbourne events.

 

Hayden De Dulin (Keysborough Operations Supervisor)

 

Prior to joining Altus traffic in 2010 Hayden had spent 14 years in managerial rolls ensuring that a high standard of operations and ethics is achieved. Hayden has also been involved in training, from ‘one on one’ in the workplace, to auditoriums of several hundred people in Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmania. He has always taken a keen interest in the operations and the professionalism of his team and has been a key member in the writing of systems and operations manuals for two of his former employers.  Hayden, since joining Altus Traffic, as a Traffic controller, has spent 8 months on the road.  He then jumped at the opportunity to become a part of the management team and assist with the co-ordination of Keysborough branch.  Hayden has enjoyed the rapid growth and challenges that the relatively new branch has given him as the ‘Keysborough Operations Supervisor’ and is very much looking forward to growing with the company.

 


 

People and Recruitment

Altus has a full time HR expert working in the business along with substantial HR support at State level. All operational staff involved in recruitment are mentored by our HR manager and robust recruitment systems are employed to raise the bar with respect to gaining employment with Altus. In addition, Altus has national agreements with a number of larger recruiters further assisting our recruitment efforts in those times of higher recruiting requirements. Overall, Altus has the systems and people in place to ensure we are well resourced at all times.

 

RTO and Training

Altus Traffic Pty Ltd is currently in the process of becoming a Registered Training Organization. This will enable us to conduct training internally giving Altus the ability and flexibility to supply all staff with high level accreditations and competencies as required, for both planned and unplanned needs. We believe there are significant efficiencies to be gained by becoming an RTO which in turn benefits our clients. Certification is expected towards mid 2011.

 

Fleet

Altus Traffic currently has a fleet in excess of 300 vehicles with a combination of light trucks and utility vehicles. Altus has a long standing relationship with Toyota Australia and has senior corporate account management in place. Altus management and Toyota Australia have regular planning meetings to ensure our requirements are well catered for and vehicles are available as and when required to meet our operational needs. 

 

Altus fleet maintenance is managed by Fleetcare Australia, a specialist provider of fleet management solutions. Fleetcare are an active part of the Altus business and work tirelessly with our State Managers ensuring their fleet is maintained to a high level of readiness for all operational requirements. All vehicles in our fleet enjoy roadside assistance which minimises the operational risk associated with those vehicle issues that do occur from time to time. Our fleet is covered 24/7 ensuring no delays or issues.    

 

In addition to our ability to resource our own new vehicles, Altus have national supply agreements in place with hire car companies, Europcar, Budget and Thrifty. This ensures that even at a moment’s notice we are able to meet short term spikes in our customer’s requirements.

 

Altus also own and can supply as required water barriers, pedestrian barriers, containment fencing, variable message boards, static notice boards, trailer mounted arrow boards, portable traffic lights, crash attenuators and have an installation team for temporary and long term sites to compliment its Traffic Management service.

 

Systems and IT

Altus has invested in state of the art IT systems to support all facets of the business. Scheduling, invoicing and payroll are all part of an integrated system that ensure higher degrees of accuracy in invoicing but also significant reporting capability for our customers. CRM and HRM systems assist the business in tracking all training and ensuring transparency in ensuring all members of the team are appropriately trained and meet the requirements of any job they attend.   Altus currently roster upwards of 900 staff per day and have the IT system capability to manage many more.

 

Altus runs of a significant IT platform, with the servers housed at a state of the art collocation site, ensuring maximum connectivity and insurance against power outages and downtime. All systems have dual backups with automatic cutovers in the event of a serious server failure. This guarantees their ability to always be ready to meet all requirements at all times.
