Kany Bidi - meaning “One Path”- is a proudly Indigenous-owned traffic management company with a vision to create employment pathways for Aboriginal people.
Founded in 2019, Kany Bidi operates with a strong community focus, delivering safe, high-quality traffic services while fostering long-term career opportunities for Indigenous Australians.
Backed by experienced industry leaders through a strategic alliance with Altus Group, Kany Bidi is actively involved in major infrastructure projects across the Perth Metro and Regional Western Australia. More than a business, Kany Bidi is a platform for empowerment - supporting individuals to build skills, gain experience, and progress toward brighter futures.
Why Kany Bidi Was Born
Looking around at family and community, it was clear that employment was a major barrier. Many had the will but not the way. That’s where traffic management came in as a practical, accessible entry point into the workforce. Kany Bidi was created to open that door and keep it open.

We employ Indigenous men and women who have often faced significant challenges in their employment journey, including those transitioning from the prison system. Michael Johnson, Founder of Kany Bidi
Driven by Vision
Founded in 2019, by Michael Johnson, Kany Bidi operates with a strong community focus, delivering safe, high-quality traffic services while fostering long-term career opportunities for Indigenous Australians.
Michael, a proud Whadjuk, Ballardong, Noongar from the Perth region, with a distinguished background as a professional AFL footballer - drafted in 2004, playing 244 games, and earning life membership at his childhood club - Michael leveraged his sporting platform to pursue business ownership and community impact. Inspired by the employment struggles faced by his family and community, he established Kany Bidi as a safe, supportive workplace for young Indigenous men and women, particularly those overcoming barriers to employment or re-entering the workforce after incarceration.
Michael’s leadership is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a commitment to personal development. He ensures that every team member is supported both professionally and personally, fostering a family-like environment where individuals can grow, gain confidence, and become role models within their own families. Michael’s open-door policy and hands-on support have helped many employees transition into new opportunities, while always feeling welcome to return. Under his guidance, Kany Bidi stands out as a leader in Indigenous employment and traffic management, dedicated to safety, growth, and community empowerment.
