Brisbane 2032 Emblem Reveal: How Altus Traffic Managed Event Access and Pedestrian Safety at South Bank

Altus Traffic delivered the traffic management behind the official reveal of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic emblems at Riverside Green, South Bank, on Monday 5 October 2026. Our Events Team QLD provided a road closure at Russell Street and Grey Street so authorised vehicles could reach the event stage to unload and set up, with pedestrian control in place as vehicles entered. It was a proud four days for our team, and an early step on the road to the 2032 Games.

The Official Brisbane 2032 Emblem Reveal

Brisbane 2032 officially unveiled its Olympic and Paralympic emblems at Riverside Green, South Bank, between 6:00pm and 7:00pm on Monday 5 October 2026.

The South Bank event brought together six pieces of the design that had been revealed across Queensland in the days before by 12 Olympic, Paralympic and sporting greats. The emblem flew the nest a little early when it appeared online ahead of schedule, but the official reveal still went ahead in front of a packed crowd of organisers, politicians and high-profile Australian athletes.

What Traffic Management Did Altus Traffic Provide at South Bank?

Altus Traffic was engaged to provide a road closure at Russell Street and Grey Street, South Bank, allowing authorised vehicles to access the event stage to unload and set up the space. Our Traffic Controllers also provided pedestrian control as vehicles entered, keeping people on foot clear of vehicle movements in a busy riverside precinct.

The work ran across four days. Bump-in took place on Saturday 3, Sunday 4 and Monday 5 October (event day), with bump-out on Tuesday 6 October.

Our Events Team QLD knows inner-city Brisbane well. Only weeks earlier, the same team worked with Brisbane City Council and event organisers on staged road and bridge closures for Riverfire, which brought around half a million people into the city.

Thank you to the event organisers and to our Events Team QLD for a safe bump-in, event day and bump-out at South Bank.

Altus Traffic already manages traffic for the kinds of events the world will watch in 2032. Marathons, road cycling and triathlon are all raced on public roads, and every major venue is reached through a live traffic network, which means every event depends on planned closures, safe crossings and timely reopenings. Over the past few years, some of the events our Events Team QLD has delivered:

  • Bridge to Brisbane: 40,000 runners, walkers and rollers, with traffic management keeping participants, spectators and road users safe.

  • Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival: 16,500 runners from 42 countries across six events, with road closures in place.

  • Gold Coast Marathon: extensive road closures and traffic diversions, with access maintained for emergency vehicles and local traffic.

  • Yeppoon Running Festival: around 3,000 participants across six distances on the Capricorn Coast.

  • IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast: triathlon racing at the iconic Mooloolaba Beach.

  • UCI BMX Racing World Championships: riders from 41 nations at the Brisbane SX International BMX Centre, inside a traffic network that stayed open to the public.

  • Queensland Classic Road Series and Queensland Club Championship: protecting cyclists, spectators and volunteers on the roads of the Lockyer Valley.

  • Tour de Brisbane: road closures and diversions that give riders a safe course through the city.

  • Riverfire: almost half a million people in Brisbane’s inner city for the opening of Brisbane Festival 2026, with multiple road closures and pedestrian access managed alongside Brisbane City Council and event organisers.

  • Pacific Airshow Gold Coast: crowd and vehicle movements for hundreds of thousands of spectators.

With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, Queensland’s event calendar is growing in size and in profile, and every event is a chance to show the world what the state can do. We’re proud to play our part, helping Queensland deliver world-class events with world-class traffic management, from the first road closure before dawn to the last reopening once everyone is safely on their way home.
